Sweet Reasons to Eat Sugar Factory
Living in beautiful Coastal Mississippi has its perks, and good eating is definitely one of them. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is the home to beautiful beaches, casinos, and tons of restaurants and believe it or not, one of the coolest Mississippi spots to dine hales from way over yonder in California! In this blog I’ll share the sweet reasons to eat Sugar Factory Biloxi.
Straight from the horse’s mouth, “Sugar Factory’s 5,500-square-foot confectionary features the signature floor-to-ceiling candy wall with more than 500 types of candy including a selection of novelty and bulk candy like the world-famous Couture Pops.”
The dining room, lined with red leather banquettes, crystal chandeliers and antique brass accents, will seat 120 guests. The newest eatery also dons a private dining area for special events and large parties, seating up to 24 guests. Sugar Factory’s menu features signature over-the-top items such as monster burgers, specialty pizzas, savory crepes and salads. Legendary desserts will top the menu with the famous King Kong Sundae, serving up to 12 people with 24 scoops of ice cream topped with sprinkles, gummy bears, caramel sauce, fudge sauce and giant pops.
I have a serious sweet tooth, and the Sugar Factory is the place for sugar addicts like me! Sweet endings, cocktails fit for a sweetheart, and even a candy store with pay by the pound delights are all a part of the Sugar Factory experience. You can visit the confectionery before or after dining, but don’t miss this attraction located on the west side of the bar. If you don’t walk far enough into the restaurant, you could miss it, so make a point to take a bathroom break and you will find the mystical sweet spot of the restaurant.
When we took the kiddos there for pre-Valentine’s Day dinner, they filled up pails and their signature fishbowls full of gummies, chocolate, skittles, M&M’s, and whatever else their hearts desired. The good thing is that with the bags and pails, they are able to choose each and every candy they wish for, and they are all one price. Customers can mix and match as they please and pay by the pound. This made my indecisive kiddos (read: MOTHER) very satisfied.
Mississippi isn’t called the hospitality state for nothing! The service at the Sugar Factory is impeccable. We were special guests for the night, as we were visiting through an invitation from the restaurant, but I’ve also visited as a patron before, and we were greeted nicely and seated once our name was called on the list. The server was very knowledgeable and suggested the top picks of the menu; each item she named was a top pick for a reason. I don’t know how else to put it, but she was simply “sweet!” (Pun intended!)
When my husband and I go out with the #3Paulsinapod, it’s usually a chaotic experience. And depending upon who we are given to assist with our dining experience, that choice alone can make or break our evening out. It’s always good to have a server who is instinctual and proactive for families. They know exactly how to get things to you swiftly as well as having a sentimentality for parents (especially those with young children). In a nutshell, it’s always good to be given a server who has things under control and doesn’t let the chaos of the kids distract them from helping to maintain order at the table. That’s it!
The Sugar Factory has had the stamp of approval from some of America’s top celebrities. I remember my first time learning of the brasserie when it opened in the early 2000s. It was frequented by some of my favs, so imagine my sheer delight when I realized a Sugar Factory was opening in my home town. In an age of social media and information at our fingertips, it’s easy to have your ear to the pulse. And from all of the celebrity shout-outs, our ears are ringing with the Sugar Factory!
Per our server’s suggestion, we started off with the appetizer sampler which consisted of mac & cheese balls, onion rings, wings, chicken tenders, and celery. This dish was a fav for the entire table. It had something for everyone, and, of course, the kiddos loved the twist on traditional mac & cheese. Hubby is a guacamole connisseur, so of course we started with the dip and chips. It was really good and served as a great starter to get us ready for the big guys.
On to the Main Course
We decided to order an array of choices so that we could dine family style and give different options a taste. The rainbow sliders were an easy pick for the kids, and they couldn’t resist the colorful burgers. Hubby was on a health kick, so he ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad. Again, the Sugar Factory is a place for all, as they provide an array of different types of options from healthy to indulgent! The salad, by the way, was divine. I had enjoyed it previously while dining at the Biloxi location for lunch.
As my mom would say it, I like to eat “high on the hog,” so I was pleased with my Black Angus Filet & Lobster Surf and Turf. When I say this dish was divine… After being on a vegan fast for nearly a month, it was a special treat to dine on an American culinary classic. My steak was cooked to perfection. Likewise, the fresh baked lobster tail fared perfectly with it. And can we talk about the Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes? Classically delicious!
Millennials are all about the vibe! I don’t want my next statement to negate the kudos that I gave the food at the Sugar Factory, but let me explain something. I, personally, will pick the vibe over the food many times in my dining decisions. Now like I said, the Sugar Factory delivers a double whammy as their vibe and food are equally spectacular. The look is an eclectic mix of the coupling of old and new done just right. It’s bright and bold, with just the right amount of classic looks and touches as the cherry on top.
Imagine old Hollywood glam meets millennial musings. That’s my best way to describe the Sugar Factory Biloxi’s aesthetic. I loved the notes of gold and classic black and white speckled throughout the dining area. It’s something like your super chic granny who was married to a 1950s Hollywood actor and her youtuber great grandchild got together to design. That’s it!
And the music?! The DJ inspired tunes give the establishment a millennial take on a supper club vibe. It has nightclub vibes with victuals. Don’t get me started on the birthday celebrations. Amazing fanfare with lights, sparklers, and pyrotechnics complement any birthday patron. And poppin’ tunes to match!
I suggest the Sugar Factory for anyone interested in an an interesting culinary experience. That being said, the Sugar Factory is just that, an experience all its own. The brasserie provides a fest for the senses with spectacular food and fun. Check out their website for more info. Also, I suggest calling ahead for a reservation, as this Biloxi spot is always poppin’!
